New Project Participants Receive VBHCD Training

Heifer Vietnam continuously reinforces and improves element capacity for projects to scale-up project impact and positive change in participating communities. Project partners are one of the primary keys to success.
From June 20-24, Heifer Vietnam held a five-day training on the Values-Based Holistic Community Development (VBHCD) model for 22 new project partners from Long An, Tien Giang, Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces. The training aimed to provide full and concrete comprehension of Heifer's mission and approaches.
New project partners were introduced to the VBHCD model, Self-Help Group formation and management, the process of livestock purchase and delivery, and other project topics. Heifer Vietnam field staff shared skills and experiences from the field with new partners. Participants also learned about the 12 Cornerstones, Participatory Self-Review and Planning (PSRP) process, Personal Leadership Development, and visioning.
Trainees and trainers had many opportunities to share; trainees were encouraged to share their ideas and personal experiences related to these topics. "What I have learned in this five-day training is much more than what I had learned for several years lately. Therefore, I don't even want to miss a training session," said Mr. Tron, a partner from Long An province.
The training also helped strengthen the bond among the participants through group activities and games. Ms. Bach Tuyet, a new community facilitator from Soc Trang province, shared, "I had a great time here. I have made many new friends and learned a lot of useful knowledge. I'm looking forward to joining the next training of Heifer."
Although introduced to so much information in a short time, all the participants showed eagerness and interest in the training. "It's good to see that the project partners are fully enthusiastic and committed to aiding disadvantaged communities by passing on what they have learned here to their SHGs and providing their timely assistance," said Ms. Phuong, training manager. "Heifer Vietnam willingly supports them in their work. In the future, we will hold more training to improve project partners' capacity so that they can help increase the impacts of Heifer projects."
